2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup: Morocco Faces a Major Challenge in a Strong Group

  • EN, Morocco

The 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, featuring a historic first: the expansion of the tournament to 24 teams divided into six groups. The draw, conducted in Rabat, placed the host nation in Group A alongside three formidable opponents: Brazil, Italy, and Costa Rica, presenting a significant sporting challenge for Morocco’s young Lioncelles of the Atlas. The tournament opener will see Morocco face Brazil, a team renowned for its strength in youth competitions, in a highly anticipated match at the Mohammed VI Complex.

This World Cup marks a turning point for Moroccan women’s football, led by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which has invested in international training camps, professional coaching, and modern facilities. The clear goal is to advance beyond the group stage for the first time. Under Younes Rab’s leadership, the team—largely composed of dual-nationality players developed in Europe—relies on intensity and discipline to compete with established footballing nations.

Among other groups, five more African teams will participate: Cameroon in Group B, Nigeria in Group D, Ivory Coast in Group E, and Zambia in Group F. Each African team will face tough opponents, reflecting the continent’s rising strength in this age category. For example, Nigeria, the African favorite, will compete against Canada, France, and Samoa, while Cameroon will face North Korea, Mexico, and the Netherlands.

The 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco promises to be a tournament full of emotions and talent, with strong engagement from African nations and a host country ready to write a new chapter in its football history. From October 17 to November 8, Moroccan fans will undoubtedly be fully mobilized to support their Lioncelles in this unprecedented global challenge.
