Charles Kaboré assesses Olympique de Marseille’s season: confidence regained amid pressure

Former Olympique de Marseille midfielder Charles Kaboré closely follows his formative club’s season. He offers a measured take on the team’s overall positive trajectory despite some setbacks and underlines the crucial need for mental strength amid the high-pressure environment at the Stade Vélodrome.

Charles Kaboré, a key Olympique de Marseille midfielder from 2007 to 2013 and 2010 French league champion, remains engaged with OM’s current form. Recently, the Burkinabé shared his balanced assessment of the 2024-2025 season.

According to him, OM’s season has been overall positive despite intermittent dips: « There have been ups and downs. They started the league very well; it’s a very technical team. The coach had a vision and I think he still does. They lost some confidence recently but are starting to regain it. »

Kaboré stresses the importance of mental toughness in Marseille’s electric atmosphere, noting: “Marseille is electric. Today it’s great, tomorrow less so. You have to endure the blows when needed and perform on the pitch when it matters. Here, only the result counts.” He highlights that players must stay in their bubble and manage external pressure to maintain calm and effectiveness.

His insights come at a time when OM seeks stability after fluctuating performances. The coach holds a clear vision, fostering cautious optimism for the season ahead.

Notably, Kaboré also serves as a sports ambassador for Burkina Faso, underlining his ongoing commitment to football development and lending further weight to his informed perspective on Marseille and the sport.
