Back from a loan in Antwerp, Mohamed Bayo remains out of Bruno Genesio’s plans at Lille. The 27-year-old Guinean striker, recruited for €14 million in 2022, has been isolated in the loft and knows the club wants to part ways before the transfer window closes. However, his future depends on his personal agreement, which has yet to be given.
Lille has reached a preliminary agreement with Saudi club Al Feiha for a loan with a non-obligatory purchase option set at €3 million. Despite this official agreement, Bayo has not yet validated the operation, blocking the transfer. This would be Bayo’s third loan spell since joining LOSC.
Sportingly, the Saudi solution does not appear the most attractive for the player. Earlier in the summer, other more promising options existed, including Rayo Vallecano, Paris FC, or Sassuolo. With these more prestigious options unmaterialized, Lille is forced to negotiate with Al Feiha, who finished 13th in the Saudi Pro League last season.
This situation illustrates the challenges of a player once highly anticipated but struggling to establish himself. Mohamed Bayo must now decide between a Middle Eastern exile or holding out for other opportunities as the transfer deadline swiftly approaches.
