Struck by a muscle problem, Hull City winger Bachir Belloumi will miss Algeria’s double-header against Togo on 14 and 17 November. He is expected to be out for around three weeks.
Brahim Hemdani, the Algeria head coach, will have to do without one of his wingers for the double clash with Togo. According to Africa Soccer, Bachir Belloumi, who was named in the squad, is suffering from a muscle problem and has been ruled out of both matches. The 24-year-old winger has just come off his first international window with the Fennecs.
The withdrawal has been confirmed on the English side. Sergej Jakirovic, the Hull City manager, confirmed it on Saturday, before the Tigers’ trip to Arsenal for the 10th round of Championship fixtures. The club and the player agreed not to take any risks: Belloumi was left out of the squad.
A medical assessment to come
The player is not staying away from the national team, however. According to Africa Soccer, he will report to the Algeria camp so that his injury can be examined by the national medical staff. That assessment, which is due to take place on his arrival, has not yet been carried out.
The length of his absence is, for now, only an estimate. Africa Soccer reports an unavailability of around three weeks. The Algeria head coach thus loses a player he had himself called up.
Three caps, three goals
Belloumi had taken advantage of the previous window to celebrate his first three caps for Algeria. On 29 September, he scored twice in the 2-2 draw against Burundi. On 6 October, he scored again in the 2-1 friendly win over Niger.
Two matches, three goals in his first window with the Fennecs. Hull City, for their part, left him out of the squad for the trip to Arsenal.
Hadj Moussa waiting in the wings
It remains to be seen who will inherit the flank. If the withdrawal is confirmed, Anis Hadj Moussa, a winger in the national team like Belloumi, is expected to replace him on the wing, Africa Soccer reports. The scenario depends, however, on the medical verdict expected when the player arrives at the camp.
Algeria host Togo on 14 November 2026 in Tizi Ouzou, before the return match on 17 November 2026 in Lomé. Two matches in four days.
Africa Soccer does not give a precise return date for the player, whose length of absence remains an estimate.
