Angola: Jeovanni Dianganga (Guingamp) called up for the first time by Aliou Cissé!

Guingamp defender Jeovanni Dianganga appears for the first time in the Angola squad, in which Aliou Cissé has named 28 players for the double header against South Sudan.

The list is out and it contains a surprise. Aliou Cissé, the Angola head coach, has called up 28 players for the double confrontation with South Sudan on 14 and 17 November, in matchdays 3 and 4 of Group B in the CAN 2027 qualifiers, reports Dailysports. The group is made up of three goalkeepers, twelve defenders, seven midfielders and six forwards.

Among those twelve defenders, one name stands out: Jeovanni Dianganga. According to Correiokianda, the 26-year-old Guingamp player is one of the first two call-ups on the list, alongside Egas Cacintura. This is his first call-up for Angola.

Five returns and two new faces

Alongside these newcomers, Aliou Cissé has brought back five players: Tó Carneiro, Sandro Cruz, Eddie Afonso, Maestro and Ruben Aderito, according to Dailysports. An expanded squad in which experience sits alongside the new arrivals.

The president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Alves Simões, defended the coach’s choices. “The players chosen represent the best options at the moment for the fixtures ahead,” he said, quoted by Correiokianda.

An encouraging start to build on

Angola began their campaign with a draw and a win in their first two Group B matches, according to Dailysports. An unbeaten record that Cissé’s team will look to extend against South Sudan.

CAN 2027 will be co-hosted next year by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

One logistical question remains: the organisation of the match in Luanda is under way, with the federation working to meet the necessary conditions, Correiokianda reports. No final confirmation of the venue or the match conditions has been announced at this stage.

The dates: 14 and 17 November

The schedule is set: first South Sudan v Angola on 14 November 2026, then Angola v South Sudan on 17 November in Luanda, subject to the ongoing organisation. For Dianganga, this camp is a first window with the national team, a chance to find his feet in a squad expanded to 28.

The Guingamp defender will have to earn his place in a list where the five returning players sharpen the competition.
