Gabon: Nyindong, first call-up to face Lesotho!

Gabon head coach Sébastien Migné has included four Ligue 2 players in his 25-man squad for the two matches against Lesotho, among them Clermont striker Jean-William Nyindong, called up for the first time.

Sébastien Migné unveiled a 25-man squad on Thursday for the double header against Lesotho on 13 and 17 November in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, reports Sport.fr.

Four players plying their trade in Ligue 2 feature in the group, including a 19-year-old striker who is discovering the national team.

Nyindong: Gabon beat Congo to him

Jean-William Nyindong, a Clermont striker, has been called up for the first time with the Panthers, according to Sport.fr. Born in France in early 2007, he came through Congo’s U20 side. His eligibility for Gabon rests on his Gabonese mother.

The outlet reports that Gabon beat Congo in the race to secure the young forward’s services. He joins an attack that already includes Denis Bouanga, Junior Effaghe and Jim Allevinah, according to the same source.

Averlant, Mboula and Do Marcolino bolster the squad

Teddy Averlant, a 27-year-old Guingamp winger, is registered under the name Teddy Andami, according to Sport.fr. He has 8 caps and 1 goal, scored against Uzbekistan in March. After spells at Boulogne and then Amiens, he signed a three-year deal at Guingamp in June 2026.

Michel Mboula, a Metz centre-back, provided the assist late in September for Junior Effaghe’s opener against Niger (2-0). Having arrived at Metz in the winter of 2025 from Şanlıurfaspor (Turkey), he saw the club take up its €150,000 purchase option in June 2025, with a contract until 2028, the source says, citing Maxifoot.

Jonathan Do Marcolino, a 20-year-old left-back born on 31 January 2006, was trained at Stade Rennais and now plays for FC Annecy. He has signed his first professional contract until 2028. He has worn the France U16 shirt once and is reunited in the national team with his cousin Henrick Do Marcolino.

Two fixtures in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers

The Panthers will play the first leg on 13 November 2026 in Franceville, for matchday 3. The return leg, counting for matchday 4, will take place on 17 November in South Africa, where Lesotho play their home matches, according to the same source.
