Aliou Cissé has announced the list of players called up for the double header with South Sudan, counting towards matchdays three and four of Group B in the CAN 2027 qualifiers, according to RNA.ao. The first match is scheduled for 14 November at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda; the second will be played on 17 November on South Sudanese soil.
Chico Banza’s name is among the players selected. The information comes from Zamalek SC, the Egyptian club he represents, and was reported by Correiokianda.info. No statement from the player or the head coach accompanies the announcement in the available material.
A double header across two dates
The first match, Angola v South Sudan, is set for 20:00 on 14 November in Luanda. The second, South Sudan v Angola, will kick off at 14:00 on 17 November, according to Correiokianda.info.
The call-up is meant to define the group tasked with preparing these two fixtures. Angola will be looking for points to strengthen their chances of qualifying for CAN 2027, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
Four points for Angola, second in the group
In Group B, Angola sit second with four points, level with Egypt, who lead the standings, according to RNA.ao. Malawi are third with three points, while South Sudan are bottom with no points at all.
The top two in the group secure qualification for CAN 2027. The margin remains slim: four points for the two teams at the top, three for the third. With two matchdays still to play, the standings can therefore still change.
Chico Banza, confirmed by his club
A Zamalek SC striker, Chico Banza is confirmed for the two matches according to his Egyptian club. His presence should still be checked against Angola’s official call-up, whose list is the only source for the announcement on the federation side.
For Angola, the trip to South Sudan on 17 November will be the second fixture of this double header, after the match in Luanda on 14 November.
