Mali international midfielder Seidou Dembélé, 18, is now being closely watched in France. According to Sport Witness, relayed by the Chinese site 006体育直播, he joined Stade de Reims in August 2026. Chelsea and FC Barcelona had shown interest in him before the transfer, according to the same source. The story was published on 4 November 2026.
The transfer is presented as official. The interest from Chelsea and Barça, however, rests on a single source: these elements should be read as reported information, not as established fact. The figures that follow come from the same outlet and have not been corroborated in the file.
Reported European interest
Sport Witness states that Chelsea made a €1.6m offer for the player in April. The outlet adds that FC Barcelona were also among the clubs interested before his arrival at Reims. Interest that places the young Malian among the profiles tracked by major European clubs.
That interest remains unconfirmed. No direct source confirms the two clubs’ interest, and the figure put forward has not been corroborated. Transfermarkt values the player at €5m, according to the same source. That is an estimate by the reference site, not a transfer fee.
A standout U17 World Cup
In November 2025, Dembélé had stood out at the U17 World Cup with 2 goals and 4 assists in 5 matches, again according to Sport Witness. A notable attacking output for a midfielder.
These statistics are also reported by that single outlet and have not been corroborated in the file. They nonetheless give an idea of the player’s profile before his arrival in France.
First steps in Ligue 2
With Reims, Dembélé already has 2 appearances and 1 assist in Ligue 2, according to the same source. His integration into the Champagne club’s squad is therefore under way, but the file specifies neither his actual playing time nor his role in the team.
The Ligue 2 season continues for Stade de Reims.
