Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has reportedly rejected an Al-Shabab offer including a guaranteed annual salary of €25 million in order to stay at Trabzonspor, where his statistics match the Turkish club’s strong run.
Salah and Trabzonspor: loyalty may come at a price. According to Goal.com, cited by news-ajel, the Egypt international forward has turned down a proposal from Saudi club Al-Shabab that included a guaranteed annual salary of €25 million. The information, reported by africafoot and Turkish media, remains a rumour at this stage.
He has also reportedly asked his agent, Ramy Abbas, to stop presenting him with any new transfer offers. The matter therefore remains in the conditional: at 34, Salah is said to be determined to continue his Turkish adventure.
A contract and numbers that carry weight
This supposed decision fits into a precise contractual framework: Salah is tied to Trabzonspor until 30 June 2028, Goal.com reports. The same outlet indicates that the choice reflects his desire to stay in the Turkish league and focus on his spell with the Black Sea club.
The statistics support him. Across all competitions this season, the Egyptian has 10 goals and 5 assists in 13 appearances, 15 direct contributions in total. In the Süper Lig, his first ten outings produced eight goals and three assists, according to beIN Sports, which presents him as one of the key players in the Turkish title race.
Five straight wins for Trabzonspor
The sporting argument is tangible. Trabzonspor have won five consecutive Süper Lig matches and sit third with 22 points, three behind Galatasaray (25) and one behind Amedspor, according to beIN Sports. The most recent, on 1 November, ended in a 2-0 win against Gaziantep thanks to Stefan Savić and Ernest Muçi.
Salah did not score in that match, but he was involved in the opening goal.
Next fixture in their sights
For Trabzonspor, the next step is their upcoming Süper Lig match, where the club will try to extend their run. On the transfer front, the instruction attributed to Salah is clear: according to Goal.com, he has asked Ramy Abbas not to present him with any new offers.
