Stade de Reims: Yaya Fofana scores and assists again, unbeaten in Ligue 2!

With 9 goals and 2 assists in 11 appearances, the Ivorian attacking midfielder Yaya Fofana tops the Ligue 2 scoring charts. He helped Stade de Reims to victory over Sochaux (2-0) on Monday night.

Stade de Reims maintained their unbeaten record in Ligue 2 by beating Sochaux (2-0) on Monday night, after eleven rounds of the championship. Yaya Fofana, 22, once again shaped the game: he provided the assist for striker Sambou Soumano’s opening goal in the 6th minute, before scoring Reims’ second, according to Foot Africa.

That performance confirms the form of the Ivorian international, who has 9 goals and 2 assists in 11 appearances. Those stats put him top of the league’s scoring charts.

Accounts that differ on the move

The sources do not describe the goal in the same way. According to L’Union, Yaya Fofana scored in the 11th minute, five minutes after the opener, from a ball by striker Arone Gadou. Foot Africa records a different sequence: the Ivorian midfielder’s assist for Soumano’s goal in the 6th minute, followed by his own goal.

The player was involved in both Reims goals, even if the accounts do not match on the detail of the move. The result itself is not in dispute.

Top scorer, Reims keeping pace with Nancy

With 9 goals in 11 appearances, Yaya Fofana leads all other Ligue 2 scorers, according to Foot Africa. At 22, the Ivorian international is establishing himself as one of the Championship’s most decisive players. After eleven rounds, the club is still unbeaten.

In the table, Reims sit 4th with 21 points, according to Foot Africa and Homme Du Match. The Rémois remain on the heels of Nancy, who beat Red Star (4-1) at the same time.

Already decisive at Boulogne-sur-Mer

L’Union recalls that Yaya Fofana had already “got the Rémois out of a jam” at Boulogne-sur-Mer, equalising late on (1-1).

Stade de Reims go into their trip to Grenoble on Friday 6 November at 8pm with confidence, according to L’Union.
