Manchester United had Serhou Guirassy, the Guinean striker at Borussia Dortmund, watched during the 2-2 at the Allianz Arena, according to the British press, which reports an interest for the January transfer window.
The story is doing the rounds across the Channel. According to Football365/OneFootball, Goal.com and the BBC, Manchester United sent scouts to the Allianz Arena on Saturday for the Bayern – Dortmund clash (2-2), with four Borussia players in their sights: Serhou Guirassy, Jobe Bellingham, Felix Nmecha and Daniel Svensson. The 30-year-old Guinean international striker is on that list.
Guirassy scored again against Bayern. The fact remains that, at this stage, it is a simple scouting mission: no offer or official negotiation is mentioned by the British sources, who present the Manchester United interest as a lead for the winter transfer window in January 2027. The file is therefore a rumour.
A “particularly attractive option”
According to Football365/OneFootball, Guirassy is seen internally, at Manchester United, as a “particularly attractive option” to strengthen the attack in the next January transfer window. The wording is the British outlet’s own: the file quotes no official from the English club.
The profile fits an identified need: United have been looking for an experienced striker since Benjamin Šeško’s persistent tibia injury and the uncertainty surrounding Joshua Zirkzee’s future, again according to Football365/OneFootball. At 30, the Guinean international fits that profile.
98 goals since the 2023/24 season
The statistic is dizzying: with his Munich goal, Guirassy takes his tally to 98 goals in all competitions since the start of the 2023/24 season, between Stuttgart and Dortmund, according to Football365/OneFootball. For the current season, CaughtOffside/OneFootball counts 8 goals in all competitions.
That output explains the attention he is attracting, but also Borussia’s position. According to CaughtOffside/OneFootball, the club would be extremely reluctant to let their centre-forward go in the middle of a title race. Any January exit, in the heart of the season, would therefore look difficult.
Munich, a scouting ground
The context of the scouting trip is no coincidence. The 2-2 at the Allianz Arena gave the English emissaries a match against Bayern to judge for themselves not only Guirassy but also three other Borussia profiles: Jobe Bellingham, Felix Nmecha and Daniel Svensson, according to Goal.com and the BBC. United therefore cast a wide net across the Dortmund squad.
For the player himself, what happens next is first decided at club level: Dortmund continue with their upcoming Bundesliga and Champions League matches. The winter window will not open until January 2027.
