DR Congo’s Fiston Mayele scored for Al Ahly Tripoli in their 8-0 thrashing of Al Khums on Monday 2 November in the Libyan Premier League. He grabbed the third goal of the match.
Fiston Mayele wasted no time making his mark. The DR Congo international scored Al Ahly Tripoli’s third goal in the 8-0 win over Al Khums on Monday 2 November in the Libyan Premier League, according to YSscores.
The Tripoli club, coached by Hossam El Badry, delivered a ruthless demonstration. Four goals in the first half, four more after the break: the scoreboard went into overdrive for a side at the start of the season.
Ellafi’s cross, Mayele’s finish
Mayele found the net in the 25th minute, converting a cross from Muaid Ellafi, according to YSscores and Pan Africa Football.
Ellafi himself had opened the scoring in the 7th minute. Hamdou El Houni doubled the lead in the 21st minute, making it 2-0 before Mayele’s goal took the score to 3-0. Mohammed Khalil then made it 4-0 in the 37th minute from a corner, again according to YSscores.
The four first-half goals therefore came from Ellafi, El Houni, Mayele and Khalil.
Second half at the same tempo
The Tripoli club kept up the same pace after the break. Ezoo El Maremi scored in the 5th minute of the second half, before Hamdou El Houni added another goal in the 66th minute, according to YSscores.
Fagrie Lakay also found the back of the net in the 7th minute of the second half, as did Jean Claude Girumugisha, who scored in the 84th minute. That last goal settled the final score at 8-0.
The match was thus played out in two bursts of four goals apiece, with different scorers each time apart from El Houni, who bagged two.
Recruitment aimed at reclaiming the title
The win comes after a season in which Al Ahly Tripoli failed to win the league title, Pan Africa Football reports. The club responded with a series of ambitious signings, including those of Fiston Mayele and Jean Claude Girumugisha, both of whom scored on Saturday… Monday against Al Khums.
With 6 points after two matchdays, Al Ahly Tripoli have made a strong start to the Libyan Premier League, according to YSscores.
