DR Congo international defender Nehemiah Fernandez scored for AS Nancy-Lorraine in the 4-1 win over Red Star, their fifth consecutive Ligue 2 victory. He is also in the Congo squad for the Comoros ties.
DR Congo international defender Nehemiah Fernandez scored AS Nancy-Lorraine’s second goal against Red Star (4-1) on Monday night at Stade Bauer, in the 45th+4 minute, from a Jérémy Gélin assist, according to Diemsovi, Sports.fr, Foot National and Ouest-France.
The win gives ASNL a fifth consecutive Ligue 2 victory and lifts them to third place with 22 points, three behind leaders Saint-Étienne, according to Ouest-France and Foot National.
A goal just before the break
The goal, scored right before half-time, made it 2-0 after Ilyes Housni had opened the scoring in the 21st minute. ASNL’s other goals came from Jérémy Gélin (61st) and El Hadary Raheriniaina (86th), according to OneFootball and MadeInFOOT.
Nancy goalkeeper Enzo Basilio had earlier saved a penalty in the 38th minute, Ouest-France reports. Fernandez was then booked in the 70th minute before being replaced by Thierno Balde in the 90th, according to Diemsovi.
A collective momentum
Captain Walid Bouabdeli was delighted after the match: “We’re happy, we’ve won the fifth game in a row. That’s what we wanted on Monday night. (…) We want to win every match. We want to be as high as possible in the table. (…) We see a team that wants to push forward, I’m happy with the team,” he told Foot National / beIN SPORTS.
Off to the Comoros with Congo
Nehemiah Fernandez is among the 25 players called up by head coach Claude Le Roy for the two-legged tie between Congo and the Comoros on 13 and 17 November, in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, according to Africa Soccer and Footafrica.net.
