PSG: Ibrahim Maza, the Algerian option to cover for Kvaratskhelia’s absence!

Deprived of winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for several months, Paris SG are reportedly looking at Ibrahim Maza, the Algerian attacking midfielder at Bayer Leverkusen, according to Sport.fr. No official offer has been confirmed so far.

Paris Saint-Germain must compensate for the prolonged absence of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. According to Sport.fr, the Paris club are studying solutions for the winter transfer window, and one name keeps coming up in the file: that of Ibrahim Maza, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder at Bayer Leverkusen and an Algeria international.

The matter, however, remains at the rumour stage. According to the outlet, head coach Luis Enrique has personally approved the player’s profile, opening the way to a possible Paris move. But no official offer has been confirmed at this stage. The €50 million figure attributed to Leverkusen is also just an indication from Sport.fr.

A first proposal in the pipeline?

According to the specialist account PSG Inside-Actu, relayed by Sport.fr, the Paris hierarchy are preparing a first proposal for the Algeria international. The account writes: “Things should move quickly for Ibrahim Maza! The coming days, and particularly the international break, could be decisive. A first offer is expected for the player. He has become the priority in the winter transfer window, after the rejection for another player”.

That last mention refers to an earlier episode: PSG reportedly had a bid turned down for another attacking player before making Maza their priority. The identity of that player is not specified by the source, and nothing in the available information allows it to be deduced.

Leverkusen set the bar high

The remaining task is to convince Bayer Leverkusen. The German club are reportedly demanding around €50 million to let Ibrahim Maza leave, a significant sum for a player still very much on the rise, Sport.fr points out.

The move fits with Paris’s desire to bet on young players with high potential while addressing an immediate need in attack. Two logics the Paris club are reportedly trying to reconcile. The prolonged absence of Kvaratskhelia could push Luis Campos, the club’s sporting director and football adviser, to speed up a signing that was not necessarily planned for the immediate future.

A tight schedule

The coming days are presented as potentially decisive by PSG Inside-Actu, with the international break as a possible turning point. It is during that window that the first Paris offer would be expected, according to the same source. A deadline to be treated with caution: no official confirmation has backed up these projections.

The winter transfer window does not open until January 2027, well after the coming days mentioned by the source: the first offer expected would therefore come before the market officially opens.
