Club Brugge: Babatunde Akinsola opens his account with a brace against Antwerp!

Arriving in September, Nigerian forward Babatunde Akinsola scored his first two goals in a Cercle Brugge shirt, giving his team a 2-1 win over Antwerp in the Jupiler Pro League.

Cercle Brugge can thank Babatunde Akinsola. The Nigerian forward scored a brace against Antwerp, allowing his team to win 2-1 in the Jupiler Pro League, reports Foot Africa. These two goals are the first for the player, who arrived in September and had not yet found the back of the net with his new side.

The man of the match needed just 71 minutes on the pitch to find the net twice before receiving the man of the match trophy. Cercle Brugge, for their part, had to deal with the opposition pulling a goal back.

A brace in thirteen minutes

The game opened up in the second half. Babatunde Akinsola broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, then struck again in the 61st. Two goals thirteen minutes apart that put Cercle Brugge in a strong position.

Antwerp then reduced the deficit but could not equalise, according to Foot Africa. These two strikes were Cercle Brugge’s only goals in the 2-1 win.

September: the arrival and the wait

Having joined Cercle Brugge in September, Babatunde Akinsola had to wait until this match against Antwerp to score his first two goals for the Belgian club.

The man of the match trophy rewards a performance that ends that wait. With two goals in 71 minutes on the pitch, he made his mark on the scoreline in a match where Antwerp pulled a goal back but could not get back on level terms.

The season goes on

Cercle Brugge and Babatunde Akinsola continue their Jupiler Pro League season.

With this brace, the Nigerian forward now has two goals in the colours of the Belgian club since his arrival in September.
