Frosinone: Ghedjemis opens his account in Serie A against Torino!

Algeria international winger Fares Ghedjemis scored his first goal of the season in Serie A, in Frosinone’s 2-0 win over Torino on Sunday. A fifth consecutive home win for the club, sixth in the league table.

Fares Ghedjemis opened the scoring for Frosinone against Torino on Sunday 1 November, on matchday 10 of Serie A, according to Foot-africa.com. It was his first goal of the season in the Italian top flight, scored on the pitch of the Benito Stirpe stadium.

The 24-year-old Algeria winger had already caught the eye a week earlier against Atalanta. This time, he capped his performance with a goal, in a match where Frosinone had to deal with the injury-enforced departure of striker Antonio Raimondo from the half-hour mark.

Kvernadze sets up, Ghedjemis finishes

The opening goal came in the 48th minute. Giorgi Kvernadze, Frosinone’s Georgian winger, advanced down the left flank and picked out Ghedjemis, who struck with his left foot. The ball took a deflection and wrong-footed Torino goalkeeper Lucas Perri.

The scorer almost doubled the lead in the 63rd minute, but Torino defenders Ardian Ismajli and Saul Coco intervened. The score stayed unchanged until stoppage time, when Giacomo Calo scored the second goal in the 93rd minute to seal the 2-0 win.

Raimondo forced off after a duel

The first half had nevertheless been marked by a blow for coach Massimiliano Alvini’s side. In the 30th minute, Antonio Raimondo injured his ankle after a duel with Morocco international Zakaria Aboukhlal and was replaced by Daniel Bîrligea.

On the collective front, however, the result is positive: this fifth consecutive home win goes alongside Frosinone’s sixth place in the Serie A table.

A run to extend

After his eye-catching display against Atalanta, Ghedjemis now adds finishing to his performance.

Frosinone’s next Serie A match should allow them to extend this home run.
