Tunisia: Maher Kanzari to unveil his squad on Saturday ahead of Libya double-header

Head coach Maher Kanzari will announce the squad on Saturday evening for the games against Libya on 13 and 17 November, in a Group 8 where Tunisia, third with 2 points, need a response after two draws.

The Tunisian national team will learn on Saturday evening which players have been called up for the 3rd and 4th matchdays of Group 8 in the qualifying campaign for CAN 2027. According to Al Chourouk, the squad will be unveiled in the evening, after the postponed 7th-round matches of the Tunisian league, scheduled for 7 November.

The players are due to gather next Sunday, before departure for Sfax. The first training session will take place on 9 November, within the FIFA window, which spans nine days.

Two games close together

Tunisia will face Libya on Friday 13 November at the Taïeb Mhiri stadium in Sfax, at 17:00, according to the same source. The return match will be played on Tuesday 17 November in Tripoli, at the same time. The Tunisian delegation is due to travel to Libya on Sunday 15 November, by private plane.

This double-header comes in a tight schedule: the squad announcement will follow the postponed 7th-round league matches, and the gathering will begin the very next day. The FIFA window spans nine days, with a first session on 9 November, four days before the Sfax match.

A Group 8 under pressure

Tunisia sit third in the group with 2 points, after two draws against Uganda and Botswana, according to Al Chourouk. Uganda, automatically qualified as hosts of CAN 2027, lead with 4 points, while Libya are bottom with 1 point.

Only one country from the group will qualify for the finals. Behind the Ugandan leaders, Tunisia approach these two meetings with Libya as so many chances to make their weight count in the race for that single ticket.

After Sfax, on to Tripoli

The programme therefore includes a first leg in Sfax, where tickets will be available online and at the Taïeb Mhiri stadium ticket offices. The delegation will then fly to Libya on 15 November on a private plane, for the return match on 17 November in Tripoli.

Between the squad announcement on Saturday and the first kick-off on Friday, Maher Kanzari will have only a few days to shape his line-up.
