Al-Hilal SC: Cameroon U20 captain Ivan Nana signs in Sudan!

Midfielder Ivan Nana, captain of the U20 Lions and called up by Cameroon coach David Pagou for the Indomitable Lions’ next gathering, has officially finalised his contract with Sudanese club Al-Hilal SC, according to Camfoot.

Midfielder Ivan Nana, captain of the U20 Lions, has officially finalised his contract with Sudan’s Al-Hilal SC, Camfoot reports. He joined his new teammates on Thursday and took part in a first training session with the squad, the Cameroonian outlet adds.

For a player who came through Indomable, this is his first experience outside Cameroon. A change of scenery for a young midfielder on the rise, whose status has shifted with his call-up to the national team.

A captain and Uniffac champion

The player’s CV has grown with the U20 Lions. Camfoot presents him as one of the main architects of the U20 Lions’ title at the Uniffac tournament, a competition the young Cameroonians won.

On the pitch, the midfielder is described by the same source as hard-working and tenacious. Camfoot also presents him as a young player very much on the rise.

The call-up that sparked debate

His surprise call-up for the Indomitable Lions’ next gathering, decided by coach David Pagou, gives him a new status. It was not unanimous: some analysts felt he did not deserve to join the camp so soon, according to Camfoot.

The choice fits into David Pagou’s rebuilding project, which aims to give young players their chance.

Al-Hilal, a continental shop window

Al-Hilal SC are competing in the CAF Champions League, according to Camfoot. The outlet does not specify whether Ivan Nana will be eligible or registered for the competition.

Before settling in Sudan, the midfielder is due to return to Cameroon in the coming days for the national team camp, Camfoot indicates. The Indomitable Lions face Namibia on 12 and 16 November 2026 in AFCON 2027 qualifying.
