CAF published on 27 October 2026 a list of approved stadiums including Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry. The venue, which had received temporary approval for September, can now host the Guinea national team and Guinean clubs in continental competitions.
Stade du 28 Septembre appears on the list of approved stadiums published by CAF on 27 October 2026, a six-page document listing the venues authorised to host its competitions. According to Guinee7, the Conakry venue thus leaves behind the provisional status it had held since 15 August 2026.
The news concerns both the national team and the clubs. Horoya AC and Hafia FC have already played there, and the Guinea national team has rediscovered its home crowd. The document does not specify how long this approval lasts.
Approval initially limited to September
The venue had obtained on 15 August 2026 a temporary category 3 approval, valid for the month of September only, according to Guinee7.
The upgrade was carried out by GUICOPRES BTP, a subsidiary of Groupe GUICOPRES. The work covered the natural pitch, the stands, the boxes and the VIP areas. The stadium now has a Media Center, an equipped press conference room and a mixed zone.
Horoya, Hafia and the Syli on the renovated pitch
Horoya AC hosted JS Saoura there in the Champions League, then Hafia FC welcomed AS Douanes of Mauritania in the Confederation Cup, Guinee7 reports. Allure Info indicates that Horoya AC has already played two matches in the venue since its approval.
The Guinea national team rediscovered its home crowd on 1 October, against Kenya in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. According to Guinee7, it was their first home match since June 2022.
A gain for club budgets
For the clubs, the stakes are financial too. According to Allure Info, the approval allows them to reduce the costs of renting infrastructure abroad.
The document cites two upcoming fixtures: the continental home matches of Horoya AC and the Guinea national team, whose dates are not specified, and a possible qualification for Hafia FC, which would allow them to benefit from the venue. That qualification is not yet secured.
