Crystal Palace: Manchester United back in for Ismaïla Sarr!

According to Sport.fr, Manchester United have not given up on Ismaïla Sarr, the 28-year-old Crystal Palace forward and Senegal international, who has still not accepted the contract extension offered by Crystal Palace.

The Ismaïla Sarr saga did not end with the closing of the last transfer window. Manchester United, already interested at that time, have not given up on the trail leading to the Senegal international forward, reports Sport.fr. No offer from the Red Devils has been announced to date.

The Mancunian interest runs into a file that is far from settled. At 28, Sarr has still not accepted the contract extension offered by Crystal Palace. His representatives are said to be satisfied with the financial terms offered by the Eagles, but the player would still like to think about his future, according to the same source.

A price set at €60m

This figure of 60 million euros is reported by Sport.fr. It was reportedly set by Crystal Palace last summer, when Galatasaray tried to sign the Senegal international without managing to convince the London club.

Competition promises to be fierce if the file were to open up. Liverpool, Newcastle and Sunderland have also reportedly expressed their interest, as have several Turkish and Saudi clubs. All of which could drive up the bidding for a player still under contract until June 2028.

Versatility as an argument

In Manchester United’s eyes, Sarr’s versatility would be one of his main assets. Able to play on either wing or through the middle, he could meet several attacking needs.

His speed and his ability to attack space would help diversify United’s play, while a more central role could ease the burden on Bruno Fernandes, the Red Devils’ attacking midfielder, according to Sport.fr.

The challenge remains convincing Crystal Palace. Sarr is still an important part of head coach Pierre Sage’s squad, and the club’s directors could prove particularly demanding in mid-season. The London club are under no obligation to sell, with their forward tied to the club until June 2028.

January in their sights

The winter transfer window could change the picture. According to Sport.fr, the file could heat up in January if Sarr definitively turns down his extension with Crystal Palace.
