Confederation Cup: Raja draw Al Ahly, AS FAR in Group B!

Raja Casablanca and AS FAR know their Confederation Cup opponents: the two Moroccan clubs learned their fate at Wednesday’s draw in Cairo, with VAR in place from the group stage.

The Confederation Cup draw, held Wednesday in Cairo, delivered its verdict for the two Moroccan representatives still in the competition. Raja Casablanca were placed in Group A and AS FAR in Group B, according to AllAfrica. Both clubs begin their campaign on 27 November.

For the Rajaoui, the Casablanca club drop into the Confederation Cup after their elimination from the Champions League, Africa Radio reports. AS FAR, for their part, qualified by seeing off Ivory Coast’s FC Korhogo, according to Fes News Media.

Group A, a pool of regulars

Group A brings together Al Ahly (Egypt), Raja Casablanca, ASKO de Kara (Togo) and Primeiro de Agosto (Angola), AllAfrica indicates. Africa Radio stresses that this pool looks particularly tough, with three clubs used to playing in the CAF Champions League.

Raja did not choose their entry into the competition. Dropped down after their Champions League elimination, they find themselves up against Al Ahly, the Egyptian side listed by AllAfrica among the clubs in this Group A, alongside ASKO de Kara and Primeiro de Agosto.

AS FAR in Group B

AS FAR Rabat were placed in Group B, with Azam FC (Tanzania), Al Ahly Tripoli (Libya) and Durban City (South Africa), according to AllAfrica. The pool brings together clubs from four different countries.

AS FAR had qualified by eliminating FC Korhogo, in Ivory Coast, according to Fes News Media, and so continue their continental run.

VAR, the novelty of the season

The introduction of VAR from the group stage of both competitions is the big novelty of the season, according to Africa Radio. It will therefore apply to Raja’s and AS FAR’s matches.

The schedule is now known: the first matchday begins on 27 November, and the group stage ends on 24 January 2027, Africa Radio specifies.
