Patrice Neveu, Togo’s head coach, has named a 31-man preliminary squad for the double header against Algeria. Lilian Brassier, the Eintracht Frankfurt defender, could win his first cap.
Togo’s head coach, Patrice Neveu, on Tuesday 27 October 2026 named a 31-man preliminary squad for the double header against Algeria in the third and fourth matchdays of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, foot-africa.com reports. A preliminary squad, not yet a final list: the definitive version will be announced on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at a press conference scheduled for 10am at the Stade de Kégué.
The preliminary squad breaks down into 4 goalkeepers, 12 defenders, 8 midfielders and 7 forwards. It includes notably the striker Kevin Denkey (FC Cincinnati) and Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba (Al Sharjah).
Brassier, a first cap in sight
Among the 31 preliminary picks is Lilian Brassier, the Eintracht Frankfurt defender. He could win his first cap for the Sparrowhawks, according to foot-africa.com. Being in the preliminary squad does not, however, guarantee a call-up for the two matches: the final list on 3 November will decide.
Several players ply their trade in France, including Gustave Akueson (Bastia), Izak Akakpo (Lorient) and Charles Abi (Valenciennes), cited by foot-africa.com. In midfield are notably Djené Dakonam (Getafe), Karim Dermane (ESTAC Troyes), Kodjo Aziangbe (Shanghai Port FC) and Sadik Fofana (Lecce).
Klidjé back, Denkey and Fo-Doh Laba in attack
In attack, Patrice Neveu has selected Kevin Denkey (FC Cincinnati), Thibault Klidjé (Hibernian FC) and Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba (Al Sharjah). Thibault Klidjé makes his return to the preliminary squad, csportsinfos.tg reports.
Khaled Narey is reported as “pending” by africasoccer.com. That information, put forward by a single source, means he can be neither ruled out nor considered certain for the squad.
A group still wide open
Togo go into this gathering with one win and one defeat from their first two qualifying matches, according to max.com.gh. On 29 September, the Sparrowhawks lost 2-0 to Zambia, who drew level with them in the group, according to beninwebtv.bj.
According to Ennahar Online, the only source on this point, Algeria lead with 4 points, ahead of Zambia and Togo (3 points each) and Burundi (1 point). Sources differ on the group letter: Benin Web TV mentions Group I for Togo, Ennahar Online Group IX. This information should therefore be treated with caution.
The first match is scheduled for 14 November 2026 in Tizi Ouzou, the return leg for 17 November in Lomé, according to foot-africa.com. The 2027 AFCON is due to run from 19 June to 17 July 2027 in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, according to Ennahar Online.
