FC San-Pédro do not yet have their ticket for the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League group stage. 2-1 winners over FC Nouadhibou in the first leg on 17 October 2026 at the Stade Laurent-Pokou, the Ivorian club play the return leg on Sunday 25 October in Nouakchott, Mauritania. According to Daily Sports, the winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the group stage.
The Ivorian club arrived in Nouakchott as early as Thursday 22 October, after leaving Ivory Coast, the same source reports. They therefore have three days before the match to prepare for the pitch and the match environment.
Karamoko gave San-Pédro the advantage
In the first leg, San-Pédro had to battle to make the difference. According to Africa Soccer, Abi Niambe opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before striker Oumar M’Bareck equalised for Nouadhibou in the 39th. In the end it was striker Mouhamadou Karamoko who scored the winning goal late in the match.
The account of the opening goal differs depending on the outlet, however. AIP puts the opening goal in the 4th minute and credits it to captain Issouf Dosso. The available material does not allow a decision between these two versions.
His late goal gave the Ivorian club a one-goal lead going into the return leg.
Bellil calls for focus
Head coach Hassen Bellil judged, according to AIP, that the lead gained at the Stade Laurent-Pokou was not enough and called for focus for the return leg.
FC Nouadhibou, who play at home, will therefore have the advantage of hosting in a two-legged tie in which San-Pédro lead 2-1 on aggregate.
Nouadhibou, reigning champions on home soil
FC Nouadhibou, 2025-26 Mauritania champions according to Wikipedia, play the return leg at home. The Mauritanian club have won seven national titles, equalling the country’s record, the same source states.
