In his first match as Wydad Casablanca head coach, Nasreddine Nabi saw his side beat Union Touarga 1-0 on Saturday 24 October 2026, thanks to a penalty from midfielder Aymane El Hassouni.
Officially confirmed and presented on Friday 23 October 2026, Nasreddine Nabi took charge of his first match as Wydad head coach on Saturday, reports KickOff. At home, the club won 1-0 in the evening fixture against Union Touarga. The 61-year-old Tunisian coach left the stadium with all three points, thanks to the only goal of the game, scored by Aymane El Hassouni from the penalty spot.
The club marked his appointment on its official social media channels with the message: “THE MISSION: ACCOMPLISHED. ✓#DimaWydad”.
Five points from four matches
Before this win, Wydad had picked up only five points from their first four Botola Pro matchdays, according to League of Africa. A few days earlier, the club had parted ways with Portuguese coach Paulo Sérgio because of mixed results.
Nabi, for his part, was a free agent after leaving Raja Casablanca, WAC’s great rivals, in September 2026, KickOff reports. His CV also includes a successful spell at AS FAR Rabat, followed by a stint in South Africa with Kaizer Chiefs.
There is little time to spare: matchday 6 of Botola Pro comes around next weekend, and Nabi’s technical staff must be put in place gradually in Casablanca.
A salary negotiation at different speeds
The financial side of Nabi’s arrival has leaked to the press. According to KickOff, his camp’s initial demands were 60 million Moroccan centimes per month, around 1 million South African rand. In response, the Wydad hierarchy reportedly offered 40 million centimes per month, according to League of Africa.
The two parties are said to have eventually found common ground on a nine-month contract, again according to League of Africa. The document would include compensation equal to two months’ salary in the event of an early unilateral termination by the club.
Figures reported by the press
These figures are reported by KickOff and League of Africa. There has been no official communication from the club on the matter.
On the pitch, the win stands, thanks to Aymane El Hassouni’s penalty, the only goal of the game.
