Two goals to the good after Oussama Lamlioui’s brace in Monrovia: RS Berkane host Star Sport Academy on Saturday at the municipal stadium, with a place in the CAF Champions League group stage in their sights.
Renaissance Sportive de Berkane can move a step closer to the group stage. This Saturday, 24 October, the club from eastern Morocco welcome Sierra Leone’s Star Sport Academy to the municipal stadium in Berkane for the second leg of the second preliminary round of the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League, reports L’Opinion. Kick-off is set for 19:00 Moroccan time, and the match will be broadcast live on Arriyadia.
The Oranges go into this second leg with a clear two-goal advantage on aggregate. On 17 October, in Monrovia, Liberia, they won 2-0 away, driven by an Oussama Lamlioui brace scored inside the first half. The Moroccan striker, the architect of the first leg, is back on home turf.
Lamlioui, the first-leg matchwinner
The RS Berkane striker found the net twice inside the first half, giving his team a two-goal lead on Liberian soil.
The task facing Star Sport Academy
For Star Sport Academy, the task looks considerably tougher. The Sierra Leonean outsiders must overturn a two-goal deficit away from home, against a side built on solid experience of African interclub competition.
Proven continental experience
RS Berkane are no strangers to the demands of African football. In the previous edition of the prestigious continental competition, the club from eastern Morocco reached the semi-finals, L’Opinion recalls.
The club intend to put that experience to use and avoid any slip-up at home. The stated aim is to officially seal their ticket to the continental group stage.
Saturday night, 19:00, in Berkane
The date is set at the municipal stadium in Berkane, Saturday 24 October 2026 at 19:00 Moroccan time, for this second leg of the second preliminary round. The match will be broadcast live on Arriyadia, according to L’Opinion.
A qualification would confirm Berkane’s ticket to the group stage of the 2026-2027 CAF Champions League.
