Three goals at a European training camp, including one against Bayer Leverkusen and a brace against Dijon: 17-year-old Burkina Faso forward Eric Ouattara, of the AD-DUHA academy, is attracting interest from several clubs, but his entourage favours steady progress.
A goal against Bayer Leverkusen, then a brace against Dijon: in the space of a European training camp with his academy, Sie Eric Stephane Ouattara, a 17-year-old forward, made people take notice. According to AfricaFoot, those three goals have made the captain of the Ouagadougou-based AD-DUHA academy a profile monitored by several European clubs.
The Burkina Faso forward is no unknown, however. He has already caught the eye with the Étalons youth team, scoring both at the U17 AFCON and at the U17 World Cup, as the same source reports. That has fuelled approaches from European scouts, which multiply after every official competition, according to his agent Boureima Maïga.
Three goals at the European camp
The youngster stood out in particular during his academy’s European camp. Against Bayer Leverkusen, he first found the back of the net; against the French side Dijon, he then scored a brace. Three goals that have drawn attention to a player still little known outside Burkina Faso.
According to AfricaFoot, Bayer Leverkusen and Dijon FCO moved to track his profile after that camp. Slovak club DAC 1904 and Austrian side SCR Altach are also monitoring the player. For now, these interests remain rumours.
A career already marked by the Étalons youth team
With the Étalons youth team, the AD-DUHA academy captain scored at the U17 AFCON, then at the U17 World Cup, according to AfricaFoot. Two international competitions that made the young forward known beyond his usual circle.
Boureima Maïga links these approaches directly to his performances: “He has been in great demand since his performances with the Étalons youth team. At every competition, he catches the clubs’ attention. We listen to everyone and focus on his steady progress. We wait,” the agent told AfricaFoot.
Playing time before destination
Within the player’s entourage, no one wants to rush things. The stated priority remains playing time and a stable environment for progress, rather than a hasty departure for Europe, again according to AfricaFoot. A stance that contrasts with the repeated approaches from scouts.
The timetable is still to be confirmed: a selection of options for his direction is expected for the winter or the end of the season, with a view to a move to Europe once he comes of age.
