Arriving in March 2026 from the Keur Madior Academy, Senegalese winger Maurice Sylva signed a four-year deal at Ranheim and is setting Norwegian D2 alight: 10 goals and 4 assists in 22 matches.
Having left Senegal in March 2026, left winger Maurice Sylva signed a first four-year professional contract at Ranheim, in the Norwegian second division. A few months later, he is already on the radar of Scandinavian and European scouts, according to AfricaFoot.
In his first season in Europe, the 18-year-old has 10 goals and 4 assists in 22 matches in all competitions, according to the same source.
Keur Madior, the starting point
Maurice Sylva was trained entirely in Senegal, at the Keur Madior Academy. Before heading to Norway, he had finished as top scorer for his team and in the local league, AfricaFoot reports.
Mbaye Gueye, head of training at the Keur Madior Academy, makes no secret of his pride: “He came through here… We’re the ones who trained him. He went through every stage. He’s a high-performing boy. When he left for Norway, he was already the club’s top scorer and even the league’s. For personal reasons due to the interest of the club and the player, we let him sign this contract that will open up other opportunities for him.” The coach also describes an explosive player, with pace on the ball and the ability to keep his cool in the final action.
Brentford tested the water
Sylva’s profile had already caught the eye of a Premier League club: Brentford were monitoring him and had him take part in trials during the summer of 2025, according to AfricaFoot.
Able to play on the left wing, the right wing or in midfield, the player is versatile. His immediate impact is now attracting scouts from Scandinavian and European top-flight sides, AfricaFoot says.
One club, one season, one shop window
In the table, Ranheim sit 8th in the Norwegian second division with 35 points after 27 matchdays, according to AfricaFoot.
Mbaye Gueye’s reaction to those beginnings: “We’re not blown away by his start in Norway with Ranheim. He has already shown that he has potential.”
The next chapter comes this weekend, with the next round of Norwegian second-division fixtures for Ranheim.
