Back in the spotlight at Pyramids FC, Nadhir Benbouali is being closely monitored by head coach Brahim Hemdani for the November camp, while the Fennecs’ out-and-out strikers go through a drought.
In Egypt, Nadhir Benbouali has started scoring again. After only a few seconds on the pitch against Al-Qanah in the Egyptian League Cup, the 26-year-old forward opened his account in his new Pyramids FC colours, reports Afrik-Foot. He followed that up in the league, scoring in his club’s emphatic win over Ceramica Cleopatra (4-1).
Those performances did not go unnoticed by head coach Brahim Hemdani. According to Afrik-Foot, the coach is monitoring the former Győr player very closely for the November 2026 camp. The attention comes at a time when Algeria’s attacking department is searching for certainties.
A striker relaunched far from the Fennecs
Benbouali joined Pyramids FC this summer from Hungarian club Győr, for a fee estimated at $3.5 million, according to Afrik-Foot. In Hungary, he completed a full season, crowned by 15 league goals and a national title.
He had already been an unsung hero for the Fennecs at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored notably against Jordan, according to FIFA.
The former Paradou AC academy player also offers a profile the technical staff are looking for: that of an athletic, hard-working target man, according to Compétition and Afrik-Foot.
The out-and-out number 9s silent
Algeria’s attacking department is full of doubt. In the three matches in September-October under Hemdani, the out-and-out strikers, Amin Chiakha and Mounsef Bakrar, scored none of the team’s 7 goals, according to DzChronique.
Amin Chiakha, for his part, stayed silent across 180 minutes played at the last camp, reports Foot Africa.
Benbouali’s pre-selection also comes as winger Adil Bourabaa has been ruled out for at least a month, according to Afrik-Foot.
Togo in the crosshairs
It remains to be seen whether Hemdani’s monitoring will translate into a call-up. No squad list has been published at this stage; the coach’s interest in Benbouali is reported by Afrik-Foot.
For the head coach, the question is therefore whether an athletic, hard-working target man, the profile the staff are looking for, can offer a solution at the tip of the attack. Algeria face Togo on 14 and 17 November 2026, and the announcement of Hemdani’s squad for that double-header will be the next milestone.
Until then, Benbouali will play Pyramids FC’s next Egyptian league match.
