At 19 years and 338 days, Yan Diomandé scored and provided an assist in Real Madrid’s 4-1 win over Sevilla. The Ivorian erases the precocity record held by England’s Jude Bellingham in La Liga.
Handed a start on the left wing by coach José Mourinho in the absence of the suspended winger Vinícius Júnior, Yan Diomandé played in the 9th matchday of La Liga at the Santiago Bernabéu. Real Madrid won 4-1 against Sevilla FC.
The Ivory Coast international, aged 19 years and 338 days, became the youngest Real Madrid player in the 21st century to score and provide an assist in the same La Liga match, according to OptaJose’s count. That precocity record had until now belonged to Jude Bellingham, set at 20 years and 51 days, reports Madrid Universal.
A missile and a record
The scoreboard alone does not sum up the young winger’s evening. Diomandé had first set his side on their way by providing the assist for Madrid’s opening goal on 30 minutes, according to Afrik-Foot. Then, on 82 minutes, teed up by Aurélien Tchouaméni, he found the top right corner of Sevilla FC goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos with a right-footed missile, according to Madrid Universal.
The celebration did not escape the watchers: the Ivorian mimicked the trademark move of NBA basketball player LeBron James, reports Afrik-Foot. Diamante.”
Striker Kylian Mbappé also scored a brace during the match, according to Madrid Universal.
Two goals in two matches
Diomandé found the net for the second consecutive La Liga match, after his first goal eight days earlier, Afrik-Foot points out.
Signed from RB Leipzig in summer 2026 for €140 million including bonuses, according to Afrik-Foot, the winger now has 17 caps and 3 goals for the Elephants of Ivory Coast, also according to the same source.
A Real six points behind Barça
The win lifts Real Madrid back to 3rd place in the La Liga table, six points behind leaders FC Barcelona, according to Goal.com.
Real’s next fixture is the Clásico against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou the following weekend, for the 10th matchday of La Liga. The report does not specify whether Mourinho will keep Diomandé in the starting line-up for that game.
