Maghreb de Fès face ASEC Mimosas this Sunday 18 October at the Stade d’Honneur in Meknès, in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. The winner of the two-legged tie will secure a place in the group stage.

Maghreb de Fès host ASEC Mimosas this Sunday 18 October 2026 at 18:00 GMT in the first leg of the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. The Moroccan club will not, however, have the advantage of playing on home soil: according to AfricaFoot, the match has been moved to the Stade d’Honneur in Meknès.

The Ivorian side are looking for a positive result to keep their chances intact ahead of the return leg in Abidjan, scheduled for the weekend of 24-25 October 2026. At stake is the lucrative group stage, which the winner will reach, according to Sport News Africa.

An attacking 4-3-3 against a compact block

On the Moroccan side, AfricaFoot reports that Maghreb de Fès are expected to line up in their preferred system, a very attacking 4-3-3, with the aim of breaking down the opposition defence. MAS sit 2nd in the Botola Pro with 7 points going into the resumption of the competition, according to Sport News Africa.

The club’s players include goalkeeper Soufiane Chihab, centre-back Abdellah Khafifi and forward Christian Ibayi. The available information does not specify their place in the starting eleven: the systems mentioned are expected formations, not official line-ups.

Opposite them, ASEC Mimosas are expected to travel with a compact 4-4-2 with a double defensive screen, again according to AfricaFoot. The Ivorian side are looking to keep their chances alive ahead of the return leg in Abidjan.

MAS want to return to the big stage

Beyond this preliminary round, Maghreb de Fès are targeting a return to the continental forefront after several seasons of rebuilding, AfricaFoot reports. It is an ambition the club will have to translate onto the pitch starting with this two-legged tie.

This preliminary round also involves other major continental sides, scheduled for the same weekend, according to CAF Online.

Meknès, then Abidjan

The match will be broadcast live on regional channels, including Canal+ Sport Afrique and beIN Sports MENA, according to AfricaFoot. Kick-off is at 18:00 GMT at the Stade d’Honneur in Meknès.
