RC Strasbourg: Gessime Yassine, the Atlas Lions’ gem to watch against PSG!

At 20, the Moroccan forward of RC Strasbourg Gessime Yassine is drawing all eyes ahead of the visit of Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday 17 October 2026 at the Meinau. A U20 world champion and the youngest Moroccan scorer at a World Cup, he has made himself an undisputed starter.

RC Strasbourg host Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday 17 October 2026 at 17:15 at the Stade de la Meinau, and the big attraction of the match is named Gessime Yassine. According to AFP via TV5MONDE, the 20-year-old Moroccan winger is the centre of attention before this clash. Strasbourg sit 11th in the league, while PSG arrive at the Meinau without Marquinhos.

Arriving at Strasbourg during the winter transfer window from Dunkirk (Ligue 2), Yassine has established himself under head coach Hugo Oliveira. An undisputed starter on the right wing, he scored the first brace of his career in Ligue 1 in late August against Lens (2-1 win), then provided an assist in Strasbourg’s victory at Troyes (6-2) in early September.

U20 world champion

Born in Salon-de-Provence, Gessime Yassine played for Dunkirk in Ligue 2 before joining Strasbourg. His honours list grew on 20 October 2025, when he was crowned U20 world champion with Morocco in Santiago, Chile, against Argentina.

A first goal at the World Cup

At the 2026 World Cup in the United States, he played the tournament with the Atlas Lions senior team. He wrote his name into history by becoming the youngest Moroccan scorer in the World Cup finals. His first goal, scored against Haiti, remains a high point for him.

“I scored my first goal out there, against Haiti. Scoring for the people, especially at a World Cup in front of my loved ones, my family, was an incredible adventure,” he told AFP via TV5MONDE.

He then played minutes in the quarter-final against France, a 2-0 defeat.

A dribbler top of the Ligue 1 charts

This season, the young Moroccan leads the Ligue 1 dribblers’ rankings with 18 successful dribbles, according to Mountakhab.net and AFP. A statistic that illustrates his game on the right wing, where Hugo Oliveira has given him a starting place.

His presence in the Atlas Lions’ November squad is expected.
