National team coach Mohamed Ouahbi is preparing a shake-up of his squad less than a month before the November gathering. Manchester United full-back Noussair Mazraoui, back to fitness, is expected to return to the group, according to Afrik-Foot.
Mohamed Ouahbi is preparing a shake-up of his squad, according to Afrik-Foot, which cites the Moroccan press, in particular Al Ahdath Al Maghribia and Le360. The stated aim is to increase internal competition, particularly in the attacking sector.
The Atlas Lions will gather from 9 November 2026 at the Mohammed VI Complex in Maâmora. Noussair Mazraoui’s return is taking shape after the injury he sustained against Lesotho. The full-back was initially protected, then given leave from the friendly against Mali.
Mazraoui, likely return but not confirmed
The Manchester United full-back is expected to return to the Moroccan squad, Afrik-Foot reports. The information remains conditional: at this stage, no official call-up has been announced. Mazraoui has recovered from the injury sustained in the match against Lesotho.
Capable of playing on the right or the left, he would offer useful versatility to Mohamed Ouahbi. It remains to be seen whether he will make the trip to Ghana and whether he will be selected against Niger.
A European tour to scout
To build his squad, Mohamed Ouahbi must begin a European tour next week, according to Al Ahdath Al Maghribia via Afrik-Foot. The coach is due to scout several players there, with a view to increasing internal competition. The attacking sector is particularly targeted by this squad review.
Mohamed Ouahbi succeeded Walid Regragui in the Moroccan hot seat at the start of 2026. Morocco have just come through a series of matches against Gabon, Lesotho and Mali.
The information relayed by the Moroccan press outlines a trend, not yet a list of call-ups.
Niger in sight
The Atlas Lions will face Niger on 13 November 2026, in the CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. A subsequent trip to Ghana is planned to take on the Niger Mena a second time. Two matches for the qualifying campaign.
Mazraoui’s return, if confirmed, would provide an additional option in defence. But the main area of work remains the attack: Mohamed Ouahbi wants more solutions and more competition among the forwards.
The Maâmora camp, which begins on 9 November, will precede the match against Niger.
