The Eagles of Carthage will face Libya on 13 and 17 November 2026, according to the calendar made official by the Tunisian Football Federation for matchdays 3 and 4 of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
The Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) has made official the calendar for matchdays 3 and 4 of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers against Libya, reports La Presse de Tunisie. The first leg will be played on 13 November 2026 on Tunisian soil, before the return leg scheduled for 17 November 2026 in Libya. These two consecutive Maghreb derbies will directly shape the Eagles of Carthage’s qualification for the tournament in East Africa.
To officiate the first leg in Tunisia, CAF has officially appointed Moroccan international referee Hamza El Farik. After two matchdays, Tunisia have only 2 points.
A very tight Group H
After two matchdays, the Group H standings place Uganda at the top with 4 points, according to La Presse de Tunisie. The two national teams play in this group alongside Uganda, co-host of the 2027 AFCON, and Botswana. Co-host of the 2027 AFCON, Uganda held Tunisia (1-1) on the opening matchday, before beating Libya (1-0) on matchday two.
Botswana and Tunisia have 2 points each, while Libya bring up the rear with 1 point. On the opening matchday, Libya and Botswana drew 2-2. On matchday two, Tunisia were held to a 2-2 draw against Botswana.
Tunisia with their backs to the wall
With only 2 points from two outings, Tunisia have no margin left. The Eagles of Carthage must pick up victories against Libya to stay in the race for qualification. They are level on points with Botswana, but behind Uganda, who have 4 points.
Botswana, who drew with Tunisia and Libya, remain within reach. The double confrontation with the Libyans therefore looks like the decisive turning point of this qualifying campaign, as these two matches will directly shape qualification for the tournament in East Africa.
Two matches in November
The first leg will be played on 13 November 2026 on Tunisian soil, officiated by Moroccan international referee Hamza El Farik. The return leg will take place on 17 November 2026 in Libya, four days later.
For Libya, bottom of the group with 1 point, these confrontations represent a chance to get back on track. Between the first leg in Tunisia and the return in Libya, the Eagles of Carthage will play a decisive part of their qualification for the 2027 AFCON.
