International Friendly: Netherlands – Algeria

One last dress rehearsal before the big show. In Rotterdam, this Wednesday 3 June 2026, the Netherlands host Algeria in a friendly designed to fine-tune their patterns ahead of the World Cup. Kick-off at 8:45 p.m. On the screen front, the match will be broadcast on La Chaîne L’Équipe.

On paper, the Dutch look like a scarecrow no one wants to face: seventh in the FIFA rankings, unbeaten over their last fourteen matches in regulation time, and top of their qualifying group (six wins, two draws, plenty in the tank). Across from them, the Fennecs are far from outclassed — intriguing, even, with their 25 points out of 30 in qualifying and a long unbeaten run halted only in the quarter-finals of the last AFCON against Nigeria. A twist, though, in Ronald Koeman’s squad: Denzel Dumfries suspended, Jurriën Timber rested after the Champions League final, Stefan de Vrij and Matthijs de Ligt both injured, not to mention the withdrawal of Xavi Simons, seriously hurt. Algeria, for their part, will go forward without Hicham Boudaoui, held back after a concussion. The stakes here, really? Banking some confidence, nothing more — neither nation has any ambition tonight beyond polishing the details before the American showpiece.
