Interest in Onana fades as Hrádecký’s arrival nears

Have AS Monaco moved on from André Onana? While persistent rumors had linked the Manchester United goalkeeper with a move to the Principality, the club now appears to have found its solution in Lukáš Hrádecký, whose transfer from Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly sealed.

Loaned to Trabzonspor after a difficult season at Old Trafford marked by costly mistakes, Onana (29) no longer enjoys unanimous support at United. Still under contract until 2028 and valued at around £30 million (approximately €35 million), Monaco had considered him for his ball-playing abilities, developed during his time at Inter Milan, at a fee far lower than the €50 million paid in 2023. Turkish clubs such as Beşiktaş JK, along with Saudi teams, remain interested.

However, reliable sources indicate that Onana is keen to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place under Rúben Amorim, unless a major change occurs. Monaco, meanwhile, have accelerated talks for Hrádecký (35, 101 caps for Finland), with a deal agreed at around €4 million including bonuses — or €2.5 million plus €1 million according to other reports. This permanent move, structured as a two-year deal with an option, is part of an ambitious transfer window that also includes targets such as Eric Dier, Paul Pogba, and Ansu Fati.

While the Onana-to-Monaco rumors fueled speculation throughout the transfer window, the imminent confirmation of Hrádecký’s signing could close the chapter for good. The focus now shifts to whether Trabzonspor will extend Onana’s loan or if a permanent move will materialize, as Monaco secures its goalkeeping position with ambitions of returning to the UEFA Champions League.
