Khalil Ayari at PSG: A Promising Bet for the Future of the Parisian Club

  • EN, Tunisia

Considered one of the most promising talents in Tunisian football, Khalil Ayari, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder, has officially signed with Paris Saint-Germain for a one-season loan with an option to buy until June 2026.

Arriving from Stade Tunisien, this versatile player, who can operate both as an attacking midfielder and on the left wing, is scheduled to join PSG’s reserve team, also known as the U23 or ‘espoirs’ squad.

Despite his young age, some observers remain skeptical about his ability to quickly make the jump to Ligue 1, mainly because his entire career has been in the Tunisian league, leaving him without prior European experience. However, PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos firmly believes in Ayari’s potential, seeing him as a diamond likely to blossom in the coming seasons. During his trial period in summer 2025, Ayari impressed with his technical skills, dribbling ability, and offensive influence, which could open medium-term opportunities for him.

Khalil Ayari’s gradual integration into the Parisian U23 group is designed to help him adapt his football style and daily life to Paris before the club eventually considers offering him a place in the professional team. His transfer attracted interest from clubs like Nice, Rennes, and Basel, but PSG secured his loan with an option to buy probably over one million euros. This contract reflects the club’s intent to secure a young talent while minimizing financial risks.

Although Khalil Ayari’s arrival at PSG is currently a moderate bet focused on a future investment, it illustrates the club’s strategy to capitalize on young players with high potential. The young Tunisian will be eager to prove he deserves his place in the demanding environment of the Parc des Princes, where hope is with him but competition remains fierce. The upcoming months will be crucial to determine if he can succeed in this ambitious challenge and establish himself in the elite of French football.
