Manchester City’s Senegalese winger Iliman Ndiaye is among the nominees for October’s Premier League “creative moment” award, thanks to a nutmeg on Leif Davis in the 3-2 win over Ipswich.
Iliman Ndiaye has been nominated for October’s Premier League “creative moment” award, reports ManCity.com. The moment selected is a nutmeg on left-back Leif Davis inside the first five minutes of the match against Ipswich, followed by a foul from Jacob Greaves.
The nomination comes as Iliman Ndiaye, who arrived from Everton this summer for around €75m, has already provided assists in a City shirt.
A moment that caught the eye
The nutmeg on Leif Davis, followed by Jacob Greaves’s foul, is among the actions shortlisted for the award. It came in Manchester City’s 3-2 win over Ipswich, a result that made Enzo Maresca, the club’s head coach, the first manager to win his first seven Premier League matches in charge of a club, according to ManCity.com.
Ndiaye is up against Michael Kayode (Brentford), Carlos Baleba (Manchester United), Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) and Luca Williams-Barnett (Tottenham). Voting closes on Monday 9 November at 12:00 (UK time), and the winner will be announced on 14 November at 13:00 (UK time), according to ManCity.com.
Already five assists
Ndiaye provided an assist in the 3-2 win at Leipzig in the Champions League, taking his tally to 5 assists in all competitions. That figure is more than his total assists across his two seasons at Everton (2024-2026), according to L’Équipe.
Despite attempting 22 shots, the winger has yet to find the net for Manchester City. He also has 44 caps and 6 goals for Senegal. According to those close to him, he leans on City’s “francophone clan”, with Doku, Cherki, Bouaddi and Aït-Nouri.
Ndiaye and Gigot open up
In comments reported by L’Équipe via Hupu, translated here from Chinese, Ndiaye explains that playing in the Champions League has always been his dream. That dream is now reality, and he says he must give everything to help the team win.
Samuel Gigot, a defender and former Ndiaye teammate at Marseille, was also quoted. He says he never imagined, when they played together, that Ndiaye would reach this level. In his view, Ndiaye deserves what is happening to him: he never gives up, works hard in training as well as in matches, and never stops pressing and harrying opponents — in short, an English style.
On Saturday at 18:30, Manchester City face Nottingham Forest.
