Lassine Sinayoko, the Mali international striker and Ligue 1’s top scorer with 8 goals, returns to the Abbé-Deschamps on Saturday with Paris FC. He played 175 matches in the AJ Auxerre shirt.
On Saturday 7 November, for matchday 10 of Ligue 1, Lassine Sinayoko will once again step onto the pitch at the Abbé-Deschamps, this time with Paris FC, against AJ Auxerre, as reported by ICI Auxerre and L’Yonne Républicaine. A special return for the striker, who played 175 professional matches for the AJA before joining Paris FC this summer.
With 8 goals in 9 matchdays and 4 assists, Sinayoko leads the Ligue 1 scoring charts, according to ligue1.com. He is also first in expected goals (xG) with 6.58 and third in the league for assists.
A signing made against the advice of several coaches
Arriving at Auxerre in September 2017, the player was not unanimously welcomed. Bernard David, former director of the AJA academy, remembers: “We brought Lassine in in September, against the advice, I’m not afraid to say it, of several coaches at the academy.”
Lassine Sinayoko then left AJ Auxerre for Paris FC this summer. The transfer fee is estimated at around €7.5 million, according to Top Mercato and But!.
Monaco, OM, Lens and Rennes in the running
Before signing for Paris FC, Sinayoko attracted interest from several clubs. According to Nice-Matin and Top Mercato, Monaco had approved his profile, but Filipe Luis vetoed the move, judging the profile unsuited to his ideas of play. According to But!, OM, Lens and Rennes were also tracking him in July.
In the end it was Paris FC who secured the signature of the Mali international. The Paris club are 4th in Ligue 1, while Auxerre are 14th, according to ICI Auxerre.
A return to the Abbé-Deschamps
On Saturday, Lassine Sinayoko will return to the stadium where he played 175 professional matches. This matchday 10 fixture will be a chance for the league’s top scorer to confirm his place at the top of the standings.
Paris FC therefore travel to Auxerre, the club that signed Sinayoko in September 2017.
