Paris FC: Sinayoko, Ligue 1’s top scorer, was reportedly rejected by Monaco

With 8 goals in 9 matches, Lassine Sinayoko leads the Ligue 1 scoring charts in the Paris FC shirt. According to Nice-Matin, Monaco coach Filipe Luis reportedly turned down the move this summer.

Eight goals in nine matchdays: Lassine Sinayoko has taken the lead in the 2026-2027 Ligue 1 scoring charts, according to Ligue data. The Mali striker, who plays for Paris FC, is ahead of Estéban Lepaul (7 goals) and Cameron Archer (6). He also sits third in the league’s assists ranking, with 4 assists.

His early form has revived a transfer saga that never came to anything. According to Nice-Matin, as reported by Top Mercato, AS Monaco had internally approved the profile of the former Auxerre man during the last summer transfer window, and the player was keen on the idea of joining the club from the Rock. The deal did not happen, however: Sinayoko eventually joined Paris FC for a fee estimated at around €7.5m.

Filipe Luis’s reported veto

According to the same source, Filipe Luis, who arrived on the Monaco bench this summer, reportedly vetoed the signing. He is said to have judged the former Auxerre man’s profile unsuited to his ideas of play. This version remains information reported by Nice-Matin and relayed by Top Mercato.

Monaco eventually turned to Matthis Abline, signed for €25m from Nantes, according to Top Mercato. That fee is considerably higher than the one Paris FC paid for Sinayoko, estimated at around €7.5m by the specialist press.

A contested target in July

The Malian’s name had not only been circulating in the Principality. As reported by But Football Club, OM, RC Lens and Stade Rennais had also been linked with him in July.

A crowded race in July

Sinayoko now combines first place in the Ligue 1 scoring charts with third place in the assists ranking, according to the league’s official figures. With 8 goals and 4 assists in nine matchdays, he alone outstrips the other strikers named in the scoring charts by Lepaul and Archer.

Paris FC await confirmation

Paris FC must now kick on in Ligue 1, where Sinayoko is expected to confirm his start to the season. The league’s top scorer will need to sustain this pace to make his success last.

The version of Filipe Luis’s veto, for now, rests only on Nice-Matin’s revelations, relayed by Top Mercato.
