Ivorian Simon Adingra is not in the Ajax squad for the trip to Midtjylland on Thursday in the Conference League. Without a natural winger, coach Míchel Sánchez must make do with a depleted squad for the 18:45 kick-off.
The 21-man Ajax squad for their trip to Midtjylland on Thursday 5 November at 18:45 in the Conference League does not include Simon Adingra, the Ivory Coast international. He is in the treatment room, along with Viktor Tsygankov and Oliver Edvardsen, all three affected by physical problems according to FC Update, which also states that Maher Carrizo is on loan elsewhere.
The exact nature of Adingra’s issues and the length of his absence have not been specified by the sources consulted. The Dutch club will therefore have to do without him against Midtjylland, leaders of the Danish Superliga, in a match where Míchel Sánchez already has to deal with numerous absences.
Numerous absentees, diverging lists
The media do not agree on the extent of the absences. FC Update names only Tsygankov and Edvardsen in addition to Adingra, while Goal.com South Africa adds Sofyan Amrabat, Julian Brandt, Anton Gaaei, Kasper Dolberg and Yves Bissouma to the list.
Faced with these absentees, Míchel Sánchez no longer has a natural winger available. Still according to FC Update, only Abdellah Ouazane, Oscar Gloukh and Steven Berghuis, just back from injury, are at his disposal on the flanks. The coach must therefore improvise his starting eleven.
Berghuis and Arokodare in the frame
Goal.com South Africa puts forward a predicted line-up, which is in no way official: Steven Berghuis should start, Tolu Arokodare occupy the attacking spearhead and Abdellah Ouazane be fielded on the left.
It is only a prediction, liable to change before kick-off. It does at least show how Míchel Sánchez could reorganise his attacking sector with the return of Berghuis, who has only just returned to competition.
A European record of 3 points
Ajax have 3 points and sit 13th in the Conference League league phase, according to OneFootball. The trip to Midtjylland, who lead the Superliga by two points ahead of Copenhagen, therefore pits them against the Danish league leaders.
The Dutch side prepared with a 1-0 win against AZ, according to Goal.com South Africa. The match is scheduled for Thursday 5 November 2026 at 18:45.
