Ajax: Abdellah Ouazane, 17, tracked by Chelsea, City, Real and Juventus

Moroccan midfielder Abdellah Ouazane, 17, under contract with Ajax Amsterdam until June 2028, is reportedly being tracked by Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus, while extension talks stall over his entourage’s wage demands.

According to media outlet 4-4-2, as reported by Sport.fr, Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus are closely monitoring the 17-year-old Moroccan midfielder, currently under contract with Ajax Amsterdam until June 2028. The interest comes as the Dutch club looks to offer the player an extension, with talks reportedly stalling over his entourage’s wage demands.

The interest from these four clubs should nonetheless be treated with caution: it is reported by Sport.fr, which relays media outlet 4-4-2. No official offer has yet been announced. Abdellah Ouazane himself is among the ten nominees for African Young Player of the Year at the CAF Awards 2026.

An extension at an impasse

Ajax want to offer their young midfielder an extension. But according to Sport.fr, talks are being held up by his entourage’s wage demands, put at between 4 and 5 million euros. Demands that are reportedly making sporting director Jordi Cruyff hesitate, according to the same source.

Abdellah Ouazane’s market value is currently estimated at around 8 million euros, again according to Sport.fr. That figure gives a measure of the financial stakes of the case for Ajax.

For now, no official offer has been announced. The information concerning Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus should therefore be read as interest, not as advanced negotiations.

Continental recognition

Aged 17, Abdellah Ouazane plays as a midfielder at Ajax Amsterdam. His presence among the ten nominees for African Young Player of the Year at the CAF Awards 2026, alongside the likes of Yan Diomande, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Ibrahim Maza and Ibrahim Mbaye, is revealed by afriksoir.net.

The successor to Othmane Maamma will be announced on 7 December in Lagos, at the CAF Awards ceremony. Abdellah Ouazane’s name is thus among the candidates to succeed him.

The wage issue remains, at this stage, the main sticking point between the Dutch club and the player’s entourage.

What comes next

Ajax will have to decide on their midfielder’s extension and on his entourage’s wage demands. A decision that could shape the next stage of Abdellah Ouazane’s career, while the big European clubs cited by Sport.fr remain, according to that outlet, on alert.

The CAF Awards 2026 ceremony will be held on 7 December in Lagos. That is the date on which Othmane Maamma’s successor will be named.
