The Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi, scorer of the first hat-trick of his career in PSG’s 5-1 win over Le Havre, was given a 10/10 by Hespress and features in the Ligue 1 Team of the Week for matchday 9.
Three goals, two assists and a perfect score: against Le Havre, Achraf Hakimi did far more than just play his role at right-back. The Moroccan was directly involved in all five of PSG’s goals in their 5-1 win, reports L’Équipe.
The performance drew praise from both the French and Moroccan press. L’Équipe included him in its Team of the Week for matchday 9 with a rating of 9/10, while Hespress gave him a 10/10.
A hat-trick Ligue 1 had not seen in years
The statistic shows the scale of the feat: according to L’Équipe, it is the first of its kind by a defender in Ligue 1 in twenty years.
His contribution was not limited to goals. With two assists, Hakimi had a hand in the entire scoreline, a total involvement in all five Parisian goals highlighted by L’Équipe. According to Hespress, he scored the first hat-trick of his career.
Luis Enrique plays down the euphoria
Luis Enrique offered a measured reading of the performance, in comments reported by Le360 Sport: “He is the best right-back in the world, but I am not especially excited to see him score three goals. What I like is to see him constantly at the highest level, always ready. That means a lot for our team.”
For him, the Moroccan’s value is measured less by his three goals than by his ability to stay available and performing match after match.
The European context points the same way: Hakimi started in Paris’s rout at Villarreal (0-6) in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, a few days before the match against Le Havre.
A European record and a date with Morocco
On the continental stage, the defender’s career was built far from Paris: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, then PSG. His first Champions League match dates back to 2017, in Madrid colours, recalls Foot Africa. With 83 appearances in European competitions, including 81 in the Champions League and two in the UEFA Super Cup, he equals Hakim Ziyech as the most-capped Moroccan player on the European stage.
The next chapter is with the national team. Hakimi could be called up by Morocco to face Niger on 13 and 17 November in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, a call-up that remains, at this stage, a possibility.
At club level, PSG will return to Ligue 1 action after the international break.
