CAF has unveiled the ten nominees for the Goalkeeper of the Year title, including Yassine Bounou (Al Hilal/Morocco), Édouard Mendy (Al-Ahli/Senegal) and Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns/South Africa). The ceremony will take place on Monday 7 December in Lagos.

CAF revealed the nominees for Goalkeeper of the Year on Wednesday, according to Vanguard. Ten goalkeepers are in the running, among them Yassine Bounou, Édouard Mendy and Ronwen Williams.

The Morocco goalkeeper at Al Hilal, the Senegalese at Al-Ahli and the South African at Mamelodi Sundowns feature on a list that also includes Yahia Fofana (Ivory Coast), Lionel Mpasi (Le Havre/DR Congo), Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti (AS FAR), Oussama Benbot (USM Alger), Vozinha (Colo-Colo/Cape Verde), as well as the Egyptians El Mahdy Soliman and Mostafa Shobeir.

Bubista, clear favourite among the coaches

In the Coach of the Year category, ten coaches are in the running, according to OneFootball. Cape Verde head coach Pedro Leitão Brito, known as Bubista, is made clear favourite by Spanish daily AS after his team’s exploits at the 2026 World Cup: they finished ahead of Spain, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia in their group.

He will, however, have to contend with strong competition. The national team coaches Walid Regragui (Morocco), Pape Thiaw (Senegal), Sébastien Desabre (DR Congo) and Hossam Hassan (Egypt) are among the nominees, as are the club coaches Miguel Cardoso (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Lamine N’Diaye (USM Alger). Moatamed Gamal, Alexandre Santos and Mohamed Ouahbi complete the list.

National teams and clubs honoured

Ten teams are nominated for National Team of the Year: Algeria, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia. South Africa are on the list thanks to qualifying, for the first time in their history, for the knockout stage of a World Cup, finishing second in Group A, according to Soccer Laduma.

Among clubs, ten sides are in contention: CR Belouizdad, USM Alger, AS Maniema Union, Zamalek, AS FAR, Olympique Club Safi, RS Berkane, Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Hilal SC and ES Tunis. USM Alger completed the double of the Algerian Cup (2-1 against CR Belouizdad in the final, their 10th title) and the CAF Confederation Cup against Zamalek, winners 8-7 on penalties after 1-1 over the two legs, reports Foot-Africa. Sundowns, for their part, won the CAF Champions League by beating AS FAR 2-1 over the two legs, their second continental crown after 2016. Zamalek were crowned Egyptian champions for the 15th time in their history and reached the Confederation Cup final, while Espérance de Tunis won the Tunisian Cup against ES Zarzis (1-0), their 17th title, having already claimed the Tunisian Super Cup at the start of the season.

Trézéguet and the Moroccans in the frame

Ten players are nominated for the Interclub Player of the Year title, including Egypt’s Mahmoud Hassan Trézéguet, Morocco’s Mounir Chouiar and Mohamed Rabie Hrimat, as well as South Africa’s Khuliso Mudau and Teboho Mokoena, according to OneFootball.

The nominees for the women’s interclub, women’s coach and women’s club categories will be determined after the CAF Women’s Champions League Egypt 2026, AllAfrica specifies. The CAF Awards 2026 ceremony will take place on Monday 7 December in Lagos.
