According to Sport.fr, citing transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg (Sky Sport), Liverpool are seriously interested in AS Monaco’s Senegalese midfielder Lamine Camara ahead of the winter transfer window. No official offer has been announced at this stage.
In summer 2026, Lamine Camara, 22, was already close to Chelsea. An agreement worth around €50m had been reached between AS Monaco and the London club, before the deal collapsed in the final minutes of the transfer window, Sport.fr reports. A few months later, the Senegalese midfielder finds himself at the centre of rumours once again, this time on Liverpool’s side.
According to Florian Plettenberg, cited by Sport.fr, the Reds are seriously interested in the player ahead of the January market. Caution is needed, however: no official offer has been announced, and this interest remains, at this stage, market information.
A profile the Reds like
Liverpool are looking to strengthen their midfield, and Camara’s profile appeals to the club, according to Sport.fr. “The Reds want to strengthen their midfield and would particularly appreciate the profile of the Senegalese, capable of bringing intensity, mobility and technical quality,” the French outlet writes.
The Monaco file is not the only one Liverpool are studying, still according to Sport.fr. The club are also interested in Alex Scott, 23, who plays for Bournemouth, and in Felix Nmecha, 26, of Borussia Dortmund, the latter without being an immediate priority.
The shadow of the Chelsea failure
The summer context weighs on this file. AS Monaco and Chelsea had reached an agreement worth around €50m for Camara before the transfer collapsed in the final minutes of the window, according to Sport.fr. That failure is said to have cooled relations between the Monaco and London hierarchies, the same source states.
Chelsea would not have completely abandoned the trail, however, despite the tensions with Monaco, according to the same outlet.
Nothing decided
For now, no club has made an official offer. Liverpool’s interest remains a market indication attributed to Florian Plettenberg via Sport.fr, and does not constitute an offer.
Two milestones are worth following: Liverpool’s decision on a possible offer, then the opening of the January 2027 transfer market.
