Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson scored in Aston Villa’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, from a Johan Manzambi pass. It is his fifth goal in five Premier League matches, and his eighth in 12 appearances in the Villa shirt, according to AFP via RTL.
AFP via Yahoo Sports recalls that Jackson went through a difficult spell at Chelsea. He has been named among the contenders for the SuperSport African Premier League Player of the Month award for October, according to Kick Off Ghana.
Eight goals in 12 appearances for Villa
With Aston Villa, Jackson now has eight goals in 12 appearances. Over the period taken into account for October, he scored once in two matches, according to Kick Off Ghana.
An award already won by Cameroon and Ghana
According to Kick Off Ghana, other players are in the running for October: Omar Marmoush, who scored once in two matches over the period, Brandon Thomas-Asante, with two assists in two matches, Alex Iwobi, on target once, and Abdoul Ouattara, with a goal and an assist in two matches.
The award is therefore not yet in the bag for Jackson, who is for now only among the contenders named.
Previous winners give a sense of the standard. Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo, the Manchester United international striker, won the first award in August 2026 after his lob against Ipswich (5-2). Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo, the Manchester City striker, was crowned in September with two goals and two assists in three matches, and 66.83% of the vote.
List of nominees and vote to come
According to Kick Off Ghana, the official list of October nominees has not yet been announced. After that announcement, fans will have a 72-hour voting window.
On the fixture front, the headline match of Premier League matchday 9 pits Liverpool against Arsenal.
