Yan Diomande, the Real Madrid winger, scored in his team’s 3-0 win over Racing Santander. Toni Kroos, the former midfielder turned pundit, cited him as an example for Vinicius.
Real Madrid won 3-0 against Racing Santander. Yan Diomande scored one of the goals of the match: in the 36th minute, from an Arda Guler corner, the attacking midfielder’s corner was poorly cleared, and the Ivorian winger met it with a volley off his stronger foot that flew into the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Agirrezabala helpless, according to Bongdaplus.
That goal made it 3-0 inside the first half. According to the same outlet, Diomande now has 4 goals and 4 assists since joining Real Madrid in the summer, after a difficult start to his time there. His contribution also caught the eye of Toni Kroos.
A volley into the top corner
From Arda Guler’s corner, the ball was poorly cleared. Diomande met it on the volley with his stronger foot, and his strike flew into the top corner. Agirrezabala, the Racing Santander goalkeeper, could do nothing about it, Bongdaplus reports.
That goal made it 3-0 inside the first half, and Real Madrid never had to look back on that scoreline before the break. The finish showcased the Ivorian winger’s ruthlessness, finding the top corner with a volley.
Kroos holds up Diomande as a model
Toni Kroos cited Diomande as a model for Vinicius. “Vini has to defend like Diomande and Bellingham did,” he said, according to Bongdaplus.
Kroos highlighted the Ivorian winger’s relentless work rate, his involvement in tackles and his defensive support. For the former Real Madrid midfielder, Diomande therefore also stands out without the ball, in his defensive work, and that is what he expects from Vinicius.
A difficult start to his time at the club
Having arrived at Real Madrid in the summer, Diomande had a difficult start to his time there. According to Bongdaplus, he now has 4 goals and 4 assists in a Real Madrid shirt.
These figures come only from Bongdaplus, the sole source available at this stage, and should be read with that caveat. Real Madrid are preparing for their next La Liga match, after the game against Racing Santander. Diomande, an Ivory Coast international, could be involved in the Elephants’ next squad gathering, a possibility that has not yet been confirmed.
