Manchester United: Mbeumo sees a turning point after a ninth match without a win

Beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Manchester United have now gone nine matches without a win in all competitions. Despite sitting 16th, the Cameroon striker Bryan Mbeumo takes heart from the first half and the group’s solidarity.

Manchester United lost 2-0 at Chelsea on 31 October at Stamford Bridge. Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer scored the goals in a match United finished with ten men after Lisandro Martinez was sent off, according to Pan Africa Football.

The winless run now stands at nine matches in all competitions. In the Premier League, United sit 16th with 7 points from 9 games. Despite that record, Bryan Mbeumo chose to focus on the positives from his team’s performance rather than the scoreline.

A first half to build on

The Cameroon striker did not hide his disappointment, while stressing the performance. “A lot of disappointment today. I thought we played a solid game, a good first half especially. And everything was good, the mentality, the commitment,” he told Pan Africa Football.

The Manchester United player sees that strong start as a foundation to build on. His belief: “I think it will come,” he added, reiterating that the team’s structure held up.

Solidarity, the group’s cement

Mbeumo also highlighted the collective spirit, despite the defeat and the league position. “I feel like everyone was linked together; even those who made mistakes, we were there for them. When someone did something well, everyone was there to take something from it,” he told the same source.

That solidarity showed in a difficult context, with his team having to finish with ten men after Lisandro Martinez’s sending-off.

The question of missing chances

In terms of the play, the striker points to a contrast with previous matches. “The structure was pretty good today and the mentality, as I said. We lacked chances in the last matches, whereas we had some good ones today, so things can still be positive for the coming days,” he analysed.

That view chimes with the record: nine games without a win in all competitions, and 16th place in the Premier League with 7 points from 9 games. Under manager Michael Carrick, Manchester United must now bring an end to this run of nine matches without a win in the Premier League.
