Mamelodi Sundowns: Maturudi bags a brace as Kruger United sink Richards Bay!

Powered by a Maturudi brace, Mamelodi Sundowns dominated Durban City 4-1, while Kruger United beat Richards Bay 3-1 on matchday 9 of the South African league.

The South African Premier Division delivered two one-sided encounters. According to Dongqiudi, Mamelodi Sundowns got the better of Durban City (4-1), thanks in particular to a brace from Maturudi, scorer of his team’s first two goals. The Sundowns scored four times, while Durban City found the net only once.

In the day’s other match, Kruger United saw off Richards Bay FC (3-1) on matchday 9. A win built very early, in contrast to the difficult season of Richards Bay, bottom of the league. Kruger United scored three goals, Richards Bay one.

Maturudi gets the Sundowns machine running

Maturudi opened his account in the 34th minute, then struck again in the 66th, carrying his team towards a comfortable win. Reinels added a third in the 79th minute, before Antonio van Wyk completed the scoring in stoppage time, in the 90+4th.

Durban City salvaged some honour through Jean Lwamba, on target in the 86th minute. A goal too late to hope to turn the tide against the Sundowns side, who knew how to make the difference at regular intervals.

Kruger United strike early

Against Richards Bay, Kruger United gave their opponent no time to settle into the game. Wonderboy Makubu opened the scoring as early as the 3rd minute, before Ibrahim Sidat doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 22nd.

Luyanda Kumalo pulled one back for Richards Bay in the 39th minute, but Mankoba Zwane sealed the match’s fate in the 90th minute. Three different players thus found the net for Kruger United, who win convincingly.

Richards Bay on the brink

Beyond the scoreline, the records paint two opposite trajectories. Kruger United show 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 defeats in 9 matches this season, according to Dongqiudi.

Richards Bay FC, on the other hand, remain in last place: 0 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats, with 11 goals scored and 23 conceded.

The next round of the South African league will follow this matchday 9.
