The revelation of La Liga and Racing de Santander’s main attacking weapon, Morocco international striker Yassir Zabiri stands in the way of José Mourinho’s Real Madrid on Sunday at El Sardinero.
El Sardinero is preparing to welcome Real Madrid, fifteen years after the Madrilenians’ last visit, and the man drawing all the attention wears the Racing shirt: Yassir Zabiri. According to El Confidencial, the Morocco international striker is one of the great revelations of the La Liga season and ranks among the league’s top scorers.
Presented by the Spanish outlet as Racing’s main attacking weapon for this fixture, Zabiri also has a journey that took him from the Mohammed VI Academy to La Liga, via Union de Touarga and Famalicão. On Sunday 1 November, he is the man the Madrid defence will have to watch.
A hat-trick in 21 minutes
It took him just 21 minutes to score a hat-trick in the Racing de Santander shirt, El Confidencial reports.
The Spanish outlet ranks him among the great revelations of the league and among its top scorers.
From the Mohammed VI Academy to Portugal
Zabiri was trained at the Mohammed VI Academy, like Azzedine Ounahi, Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti and Nayef Aguerd, El Confidencial recalls.
He then joined Union de Touarga, in the Moroccan first division. At 18, he scored 3 goals and provided 1 assist in 11 matches. Those performances earned him a transfer to Famalicão in the following winter transfer window, again according to the Spanish outlet.
He now plays for Racing de Santander, under head coach José Alberto López.
Real, fifteen years on
Racing de Santander face Real Madrid at El Sardinero fifteen years after the Madrilenians’ last visit, according to El Confidencial. Against José Mourinho’s Real, the Cantabrian club are counting on their Moroccan striker to try to pull off an upset.
