The president of the Advocacy for Nigeria Football Reform Initiative, Prince Harrison Jalla, accuses CAF of having violated its own ruling in the Edo Queens case and condemns the absence of a Nigerian voice within the body, according to The Sun Nigeria.
The Edo Queens case is taking a new turn. Prince Harrison Jalla, president of the Advocacy for Nigeria Football Reform Initiative, accuses CAF of having violated its own ruling in this affair, according to The Sun Nigeria. He also condemns the absence of Nigerian representation within the continental body.
As a reminder, Edo Queens had won the WAFU B qualifying tournament in Ouagadougou, before Ampem Darkoa Ladies lodged a protest 48 hours later. The club claimed that the match had not been played for the full regulation time before the penalty shootout. CAF upheld this protest and ordered a replay at the same venue, with the same players, over 15 minutes per half to cover the 30 missing minutes.
The move to Cairo in question
According to Jalla, CAF then moved this replay to Cairo, Egypt, and deprived Edo Queens of certain players who were retained for the Women’s U17 World Cup. These accusations remain those of the reformer, as reported by The Sun Nigeria.
Edo Queens has lodged a new complaint with CAF, dated 29 October 2026. Its examination by the body is still to come.
Governance called into question
Jalla does not stop at the Edo Queens case. He believes that appointments at CAF have become “entirely commercialised” and condemns the absence of a Nigerian voice within the body. “Throughout this drama, no Nigerian at CAF lifted a finger to defend the country,” he told The Sun Nigeria.
He challenges the body directly: “Where are the Nigerians at CAF? Who appointed them in the first place? Are their appointments based on merit?”
He also cites former Nigerian officials Orok Oyo, Adegboye Onigbinde, Patrick Okpomo, Jonathan Ogunfere, Amos Adamu, Sani Toro and Amanze Uchegbulam.
What next for Edo Queens?
The Nigerian club, chaired by Emperor Jarrett Tenebe, is awaiting a response from the body on its complaint.
Jalla goes further: “CAF is turning into a loose cannon,” he told The Sun Nigeria.
